Dr. Josh Slatkoff, DMD
Dr. Joshua Maximilian Slatkoff has been a dentist since 2001 and has owned Smiles by Dr. Josh since 2005. He received his degrees in Sociology and Biology from the University of Miami before attending Nova Southeastern University College of Dental Medicine, where he received his DMD in 2001.
Dr. Josh loves nothing more than to help his patients achieve a more beautiful smile while maintaining the best oral health possible. He loves working with his hands and studying the latest dental techniques to combine the art and science of dentistry. Nothing makes him happier than seeing his patients experience higher self-esteem and improved confidence after they complete their dental treatment.
When Dr. Josh isn’t creating beautiful smiles, he loves traveling around the world; he’s fascinated with history and ancestry and believes that our past shapes who we are today. In addition to traveling, Dr. Josh enjoys singing and playing the piano. His sister is an opera singer in Edinburgh, Scotland, and his grandmother was an opera singer in Havana, Cuba.
Laura Echavarria
Hygienist
Laura is a dental hygienist who attended both Broward College and Nova University; she has been a part of the Smiles by Dr. Josh family since 2013. She developed her passion for dentistry while visiting her godmother’s dental office as a child.
Laura prides herself on providing dental education to her patients and helping them feel confident and at ease when they visit Smiles by Dr. Josh. Some of her duties include screening patients for oral health conditions, taking x-rays, and performing dental cleanings. Laura loves to see patients’ reactions after treatment because she knows their lives will be improved when their oral and overall health is improved.
When Laura isn’t improving smiles, she loves to travel, but any chance she gets, she spends time with her horses at the farm.
Yisel Martin
Receptionist
Yisel is the first person you see when you visit Smiles by Dr. Josh. As the front desk receptionist, she will make you comfortable and welcome you to the Smiles by Dr. Josh family. Yisel makes patient appointments and presents treatment plans. She attended NOVA University and has been in dentistry since 2014.
Since joining the Smiles by Dr. Josh dental team in 2018, she has had the opportunity to build lasting relationships with the patients and the team, which she finds extremely rewarding. Because dentistry is a field that is constantly evolving, Yisel enjoys the excitement of her profession.
During her free time, Yisel enjoys reading, watching nature documentaries, and making candles. Although she’s a country girl living in the city, she can’t imagine being anywhere else.
Sara Slatkoff, DDS
Office Manager
Sara is the office manager at our dental office, although she was a dentist in Colombia for ten years before she started working at Smiles by Dr. Josh in 2005. She attended Colegio Odontologico Colombiano in Bogota, Colombia, where she received her DDS.
Sara oversees all internal operations, as well as customer and public relations at Smiles by Dr. Josh. Her mission has always been to help people improve their self-esteem, and she loves to see a patient’s transformation after a smile makeover.
Sara has a passion for interior design, so when she isn’t working, she loves to decorate tables for every occasion. She also prides herself on telling jokes!
