Technology

Thanks to modern technological advances, going to the dentist has improved dramatically; many diagnostic tests and procedures can now be accomplished more easily and comfortably.

At Smiles by Dr. Josh, one of our primary goals is patient comfort; we want you to have a stress-free, relaxing visit to our Fort Lauderdale dental office. That’s why we are equipped with the latest technology to enhance your dental experience and make it more pleasant and efficient.

Keep reading to learn more about how we utilize technology to give you the best dental experience possible. At Smiles by Dr. Josh, we love to see you smile!

Digital Records

Our dental office uses digital record-keeping to improve your patient experience. We can digitally chart your dental visits and create treatment plans for you, as well as store dental images in our computer system. Digital record-keeping allows us to easily share your information with other medical professionals, as well as keep track of important insurance and payment information.

CBCT Cone Beam Technology

We use Cone Beam Computed Tomography (CBCT) to help us see a comprehensive 3-D view of your teeth and jawbone. This innovative technology helps us prepare for dental procedures such as dental implants or extractions.

We can also better plan specific surgical procedures to ensure the least invasive, most accurate outcome for every patient.

CBCT allows us to share your treatment plan with you more effectively; by providing a visual image of your mouth, it’s easier for you to understand your upcoming treatment.

Laser Dentistry

Laser dentistry is an innovative way to perform a variety of dental procedures using light energy and water. Because no friction is involved with a laser, you can experience comfortable dental treatment without strong anesthesia.

Our laser technology can be used for certain cosmetic treatments, dental implant placement, and treatment for periodontal disease, and it allows us to complete your dental treatments with greater accuracy than ever before.

Intraoral Camera

Although x-rays are a crucial tool in dentistry to help us see what’s going on in your mouth, the intraoral camera can give us additional information that digital x-rays cannot. The intraoral camera is a tiny video camera we place in your mouth to see dental issues better, and we can display the images on a computer screen for you to see as well.

This technology helps us explain your treatment options so you can more easily make decisions about your oral health. With the intraoral camera, we can detect broken fillings, cracked teeth, and even tiny cavities that we may not see on digital x-rays.

Rotary Endodontics

If you have to undergo root canal therapy, rotary endodontics can make it a more comfortable experience. Dr. Josh will use this electric hand tool to remove the infection from inside your tooth more efficiently and effectively than traditional dental tools.

Digital Impressions

Before digital impressions, dentists used messy, goopy material to take impressions for treatments such as dental crowns or clear braces. Thankfully, you no longer have to undergo this uncomfortable process.

Thanks to technological advances, we can now take a digital scan of your teeth and create a 3-D impression. This innovative technology helps us create a precise impression to give you a more beautiful smile.

Digital X-Rays and Sensors

We ask our patients to visit our dental office twice a year for regular exams and checkups. We typically take x-rays during one of those visits to screen for dental issues inside your teeth and jaw. Digital x-rays help us see potential problems so we can treat them as soon as possible.

Digital sensors help us display those images on a screen in your treatment room so we can discuss your treatment options with you and help you maintain your oral health.
